Lernen funktioniert besser mit emotionalem und persönlichem Bezug zum Thema. Das unterstreicht eine Studie des Offenen Labors der Uni Graz.

Wie Wissen besser im Kopf bleibt, hat das Team des Offenen Labors untersucht

Krankheitserreger und deren Bekämpfung sind ein schwieriges Themenfeld für SchülerInnen. Unvorstellbar klein, komplizierte Namen, völlig abstrakt. Bindet man die Kinder aber emotional in die Materie ein, merken sie sich auch komplexe Zusammenhänge besser. Das hat eine Studie im Offenen Labor der Universität Graz gezeigt. Schulklassen nahmen an dem Kurs „Antibiotika: Resistenten Bakterien auf der Spur“ teil. Einige Kleingruppen bekamen als Einstieg die Gelegenheit, das Thema untereinander zu diskutieren. „Dadurch bekamen die Kinder einen persönlicheren Bezug dazu, der ihnen half, die Bedeutung von Antibiotika für sich selbst, aber auch für die Gesellschaft besser einzuschätzen“, berichtet Studienleiter Helmut Jungwirth, Professor für Wissenschaftskommunikation. Dieses aktiv erarbeitete Wissen bleibt dann auch länger im Gedächtnis.
Die Studie wurde im International Journal of Science Education veröffentlicht.
