From the 1st to 12th September 2025, the inner courtyard of the main building of the University of Graz will once again be transformed into an atmospheric open-air cinema. Monday to Friday from 8 p.m.!

In the first week of September, blockbusters such as Top Gun: Maverick and Fack Ju Göthe are on the programme. In the second week, scientists take over as directors: on 8th September, the Oscar-winning film Conclave takes a look behind the scenes of the papal election - theologians Michaela Sohn-Kronthaler and Bernd Hillebrand clarify what Hollywood portrays correctly and what does not. Two days later, on 10th September, the film Gladiator II becomes a cinematic arena. Margit Linder from the Institute of Antiquity will explain how the naval battles in the Colosseum were really fought and why gladiators died less often than the films suggest.

The scientific opening credits start at 19:30 on both evenings.

The campus cinema is organised in cooperation with the "Wanderkino" and the "7th Faculty". In case of bad weather, the event will be moved to the auditorium.

When: Monday-Friday, 1-5 September & 8-12 September 2025
Admission: from 7 pm, films start at 8 pm
Where: Inner courtyard of the University of Graz main building, Universitätsplatz 3, 8010 Graz (in case of bad weather, Aula, 1st floor)

All movies & tickets here.
