Long Night of the Museums 2025

On Saturday, October 4, 2025, the University Museums of the University of Graz – the UniGraz\@Museum and the Hans Gross Museum of Criminology – invite you to the Long Night of Museums. From 6:00 p.m. to midnight, visitors at both locations can look forward to exciting exhibitions, interactive guided tours, and a varied accompanying program.

UniGraz@Museum:

At the UniGraz@Museum, in addition to the permanent exhibition “From Observing Nature to Nanophysics”, visitors can also explore the special exhibition “Experiencing Democracy – Your Voice. Your Vote. Your Future…”. A diverse program awaits:

  • Children's programme: What does democracy have to do with broken glass?
    • 18:00 - 21:00
    • Hands-on station where you can write in Ancient Greek on clay shards, just like in the ostracism process.
  • Children's programme: Gift of the gab? Dress like a Greek politician
    • 18:00 - 21:00
    • Slip into a himation, a cloak once worn by Greek politicians during assemblies on the Pnyx.
  • Dance performance intro to the special exhibition tour “Democracy”
    • 18:00, 21:30 and 23:15
    • The impressions and ideas of the exhibition are not only taken in visually and aurally, but also anchored kinesthetically: moments of expressive dance invite the audience to experience and reflect on democracy in motion.
    • Participants: Dr Ligia L. Cristea, artist, dance and expressive dance teacher
  • Laser research 60 years ago at the University of Graz
    • 20:00 - 20:45
  • Late-night guided tour through the permanent exhibition
    • 22:45 - 23:15, "From the observation of nature to nanophysics"

       

Hans Gross Crime Museum:

At the Hans Gross Museum of Criminology, the history of crime and criminology is told through original objects from historical criminal cases. A diverse program awaits:

  • Hans Gross is the "father of criminology" making Graz the birthplace of CSI!
    • 18:00 - 24:00
    • Alongside the famous crime scene kit, many corpora delicti from around 1900 will be on display. Crime is examined scientifically, and historical cases are presented.
  • Crime & Blues:
    • 20:00 - 21:00
    • "Da Wolf" Wolfgang Schober performsthe "criminal blues" - a top-class musical performance!
