Using numerous examples, Kathrin Hiller showed what successful social media communication is based on and how scientific content can be presented in an appealing way on Instagram and LinkedIn. The most important keywords: authenticity, clarity, strategic storytelling.
In short exercises, the participants reflected on their own presence on social media and analysed best practice examples from science communication. The varied mix of input, dialogue and practice ensured a lively atmosphere and plenty of new food for thought.
The “Science goes Social” training series will be continued in the coming weeks and offers further lunch-time workshops with experts from science and communication. The aim is to provide researchers at the University of Graz with practical strategies and tools for contemporary science communication.
